Reconnect – NQ 

The Crucial Connections Worker primarily supports criminalised and at-risk girls aged 12-18, particularly those in the children’s prison system (mainly Cleveland Youth Detention Centre – CYDC). This includes girls whose mothers are in prison. The program will provide intensive support to help participants to engage and/or reengage with family and community; enhance their confidence and independence; and address barriers toparticipation in education, training, employment and community life.

Anti-Violence Worker – SEQ

The Anti-Violence Worker primarily provides counselling and support for the women prisoners in the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre (SQCC) in Gatton, who have experienced domestic, family and/or sexual violence. Most of the work is individual counselling, including working with many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. The Worker is required to visit women in SQCC each week. Some group work with women prisoners may also be conducted (within the confines of the prison system).

Health Program – SEQ

The Health Support Program (HSP) is a Queensland-wide service which provides intensive support to improve the health and wellbeing of women and their children following women’s release from prison. The Health Support Worker (BWCC) will primarily engage with women in the Brisbane Women’s Correctional Centre and the Health Support Worker (SQCC) will primarily engage with women in the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre. This position will focus on preparation for release, and may continue to support women and their children post-release. Many participants will be Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women: program participants will also include women from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) backgrounds and women with disabilities.

The Anti-Violence Worker (Community) primarily provides trauma-informed support for women and girls following release from Townsville Women’s Correctional Centre (TWCC) and Cleveland Youth Detention Centre (CYDC). Most of the work is with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in Townsville who have experienced domestic, family and/or sexual violence. The worker provides continuity of support post-release, to help women recover from the trauma of past violence and imprisonment.

Sexual Assault Worker – SEQ 

The Sexual Assault Support Worker provides trauma-informed support for women and girls who haveexperienced sexual violence. This support can be provided either whilst in prison or in the community following release from Brisbane Youth Detention Centre (BYDC), Brisbane Women’s Correctional Centre (BWCC), Southern Queensland Correctional Centre (Gatton), Helena Jones Correctional Centre or Numinbah Correctional Centre. Many participants will be Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls. The Worker provides continuity of support to help women and girls recover from the trauma of past violence and imprisonment.
