Yangah Worker – SEQ

The position aims to reduce the number of 10 – 17 year old girls being held on remand in the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre and/or police watch houses in the Greater Brisbane Area. The Yangah Worker is responsible for improving the likelihood of a successful bail application, through ensuring girls’ access to suitable and stable community-based services and support. The Worker also provides post-release support to enable girls to continue to meet their bail conditions. This position is to provide support to girls to divert them away from criminalisation and imprisonment. This is primarily an outreach service and working hours per week will be 38 hours including after hours and weekends, as well as reasonable additional hours when directed by the Manager.

Youth Job Training Worker – NQ

The Youth Job Training Worker is responsible for supporting employment, education and training pathways
for girls and young women in Townsville who are engaged with Youth Justice or Queensland Corrective
Services. The majority of participants will be young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. This
position will work closely with other organisational staff in accordance with the Values, Mission, policies and
procedures of Sisters Inside Inc.

Health Support Worker x 2 – SEQ

The Health Support Program (HSP) is a Queensland-wide service which provides intensive support to improve the health and wellbeing of women and their children following women’s release from prison.  The Health Support Worker (BWCC) will primarily engage with women in the Brisbane Women’s Correctional Centre and the Health Support Worker (SQCC) will primarily engage with women in the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre.   This position will focus on preparation for release, and may continue to support women and their children post-release.  Many participants will be Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women: program participants will also include women from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) backgrounds and women with disabilities.

Child & Parenting Support Worker – SEQ

The Child & Parenting Support Worker is primarily responsible for increasing the parenting capacity of criminalised mothers living in the community in South East Queensland, and improving the development and wellbeing of their children.  This includes work with women and children from a variety of cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children.  The Worker mainly provides intensive support to a small number of women.
